1. How does the Transport Companies calculator operate?

The Transport Companies freight and courier quotation system analyses your need for carriage and searches the wide range of cost and delivery options that we have negotiated with local and interstate transport companies.  You can compare the various price and delivery times offered by couriers in Geelong or anywhere in Australia and you can choose the best option to suit your time needs and your budget.

Then you simply book that option by completing the steps outlined in the calculator.  You can even print the label online – it’s just that easy!

2. Why do I get discount rates?

You get great price reductions for three reasons:

3. Can I use the Transport Companies freight calculator for eBay purchases?

Absolutely, simply enter the dimensions of the shipment and the appropriate details into the calculator on our website.

4. Will quotes be available instantly?

In most cases you will get a range of price quotes in a matter of seconds.  Sometimes, if you are sending items with unusual dimensions or shapes, or perhaps to a remote area, the carriers will need to further assess your request in order to provide and accurate quote for such items, but you should usually receive a quote within 24 hours.

5. When should I pay?

Once you have selected the quote that suits your needs you can pay for it immediately by credit card or direct debit.  If you need more time to decide, your quotes can be saved for up to 14 days.

Note that payment transactions are through a secure website using only major credit or debit card companies.

Note also that we believe we can minimise trade debtor issues by only using credit/debit card payment methods.  This provides an independent record of transactions and further enables us to pass on savings to you by avoiding provisions for bad debts.

6. What happens after selecting which courier to use?

Once you have decided on your preferred price and delivery option, select the appropriate carrier quote on the calculator, complete the origin and destination information, and finalise payment to complete your order.  Depending on your selection, the transport carrier of your choice will collect your freight from your home or business, or alternatively you can drop it off at your nearest carrier depot.

7. How long will my delivery take?

Delivery depends on your choice of transport carrier and the delivery time option you choose to pay for.  Depending on the destination it can range from premium same day delivery to express overnight service or economy service over a couple of days. 

8. How do I know my payment is safe?

Transport Companies is part of Freight Broker Logistics Pty Ltd a legally incorporated Australian company.  The freight calculator uses encrypted SSL technology to ensure that your details are secure and it is verified by a digital certificate from Thawte Software. 

The freight calculator has already processed thousands of transactions in the last year with both satisfied customers and the major transport operators connected to our system.

9. How do I know my payment has been received?

Once your payment is received, you will receive an automated written confirmation and tax invoice via email for your records.

10. Can I make changes after my initial booking?

Yes you can make changes after your initial booking by directly contacting the carrier you have selected and advising the changes you wish to make.  The consignment charges may then need to be reassessed by the carrier to reflect the changes you wish to make from the original booking.

11. Who is responsible for my order?

Once you have chosen the transport company to deliver your goods, that carrier is responsible for your order and it is carried in accordance with their terms and conditions.

12. How do I track my order?

You can track your order online if you choose a transport carrier that provides automated consignment tracking.  This can be achieved by entering your consignment note number (booking reference number) into the selected transport carrier’s website.

As we provide a multi-carrier booking system, automated tracking may not be available from all carriers in which case you need to personally contact the carrier and quote your consignment note number.

13. What happens if there is problem with delivery?

If there is a problem with delivery, firstly contact the transport carrier delivering your order and quote your consignment note number.  If you cannot find your consignment note number, simply log into your account and it will be part of your recorded transaction.

14. Will I be notified when delivery has been completed?

You will be notified of delivery completion if you choose a transport carrier that provides automated tracking of orders.  Simply enter your consignment note number into the applicable carrier’s website.
